PHONETIC AWARENESS PROGRAM

This is a program for 4 and 5 yr olds who are just beginning to learn their alphabets. We will focus on letter sounds, printing and sounding out words with emphasis on beginning, middle and ending sounds. This program is open to all including those who are not attending the preschool program. Phonetic awareness program has a January and September entry and runs every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:45-5pm. This class will only take 10 children at a time.

Objectives of the Program are;

Print Motivation–interest & enjoyment of books
Phonological Awareness–ability to hear & play with smaller sounds in words
Vocabulary–knowing the names of things
Print Awareness–noticing print, handling a book, and following the words on a page
Narrative Skills–describe things & events to tell stories
Letter Knowledge–learn to name letters, know they have sounds, and recognizing them elsewhere

The fee for Phonetic Awareness Program is $100/month per child. Children will be accepted every September and January. Registration takes place in November and December for January session and July and August for the September session. On-going registrations are welcome if there is space in the program.
