READY TO READ PROGRAM

This is an additional program that is offered to those children who need extra assistance to read. It is open to all children attending Kindergarten and Grade 1. The program is offered Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:45-5:00pm. Children learn reading through the phonetic system and a step by step phonic reading program. We focus on teaching long and short vowel sounds, sight words and consonant blends. The reading program is fun and interactive way of learning. The entry date to this program is every January and September. We are currently accepting registrations for January 2010. This class will only take 10 children at a time. First come, first serve basis. Children are required to know their alphabet names and sounds. The program also focuses on printing skills.

The objectives of the program;

-Identify rhymes
-Introduction to reading by sounding out words
-Reading comprehension skills
-Introduction to reading with expression
-Identify sight words
-Learning consonant blends
-Word and sentence printing

The fee for Ready-to-Read Program is $100/month per child. Children will be accepted every September and January. Registration takes place in November and December for January session and July and August for the September session. On-going registrations are welcome if there is space in the program.
